Devastating news for Dodgers fans, their $147 million pitcher Zack Greinke will now miss 8 weeks after suffering a broken collarbone in the bench clearing brawl vs the Padres.
Via CBSSports the right-hander will have surgery to repair his fractured collarbone on Saturday. A rod will be inserted into his clavicle to stabilize and align the fracture. He is slated to miss 8 weeks.
Greinke’s injury occured when Padres OF Carlos Quentin charged to the mound after being plunked, the two had a shoulder-to-shoulder collision.
In the meantime, Dodgers have activated LHP Ted Lilly off the disabled list to fill in for Greinke. Lilly, too, was nursing shoulder problems.
Huge blow for a team that’s got its sights set on World Series glory.
