Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo was a playmaking machine at LSU the past two seasons.  Mingo only received one major criticism, and that was about his size.

This weekend at his first Browns minicamp, Mingo heard the whispers again about his size from Cleveland reporters.  According to Pro Football Talk, Mingo disputed any questions about his size.

Naw, I think I’m just fine the way I am,” he said, via the Medina Gazette. “I think I can hold a pretty good bit and still be effective.”

Mingo, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 237 pounds, can probably carry a few more pounds, but he should be ok.

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski compared Mingo’s frame to former Miami Dolphin great Jason Taylor, who was listed at 6-foot-6 and 244 pounds.

“He looked pretty quick and pretty fast,” Chudzinski said after seeing Mingo on the field for the first time. “He moves around the field pretty well. It’s always different when you see guys live and in person and you’re on the field. But he had a good day and he really picks things up well. Those are the things that stood out to me. . . . Different guys have different body types and different weights they play the best at.”

Mingo has a few months to gain some weight and see how he feels.  Things should be better once he gets a full off-season in the NFL to build his body.
