Floyd Mayweather Announces He’s Fighting Canelo Alvarez in September

Mayweather breaks the news himself that he will be fighting Canelo Alvarez on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

This comes on the cusp of Alvarez saying he wouldn’t fight Mayweather at anything below Junior Middleweight 154 pound limit. Canelo budged a little bit and that was enough to get a deal done.

Biggest fight that can be made.

Just like 44 others, Canelo says he will be the first to crack the Mayweather code.

“I’m very excited. This is the fight I have wanted for a while,” Alvarez told ESPN.com from the Golden Boy Promotions offices in Los Angeles after signing his contract. “It’s been talked about for a while now, and now that it’s signed, sealed and delivered, I am very happy.

“I will be the first to beat Floyd.”

  1. Big fight. Canelo has strength and youth on his side. He showed some serious power against Trout, I think he has a chance I will be rooting for Floyd though.

  2. Please. The Showtime execs picked this fight. They realized they had to do something after the dismal sales of the Mayweather-Guerrero bout.
