I see why Joe Flacco is often referred to as Joe Cool. While his name is being tossed around thanks to his agent Joe Linta, Flacco finds a way to remain loyal to both parties, while downplaying his agent’s comments.
After Flacco’s agent Joe Linta sparked controversy following his remarks about the Ravens organization being “dumb” for not reaching a decision to sign the quarterback the following year, Flacco spoke with BaltimoreRavens.com to clear up the air.
“Obviously I don’t feel that way,” Flacco told the Ravens website Wednesday afternoon. “I think he probably got a little excited about it. I like Joe’s fire, and I like that he’s trying to protect me in any way. But in no way do I have those feelings towards the organization. I thought the whole time there was respect on both sides and there will continue to be.””
“I think the good thing about the whole process was that when we were negotiating the deal, there was always respect,” Flacco said. “I had respect for them with the deal they offered, and I think they respected my decision to not take it. I think throughout the whole process, it’s been very good.”
After winning the Super Bowl and receiving a large payday, many critics will be waiting for a chance to say “I told you so.” The last thing Flacco needs at this time is added pressure before the football is even snapped especially from his agent.
