Joe Flacco’s agent joe Linta did his job and got his client super paid. Linta may now want to shut his mouth before he talks himself out of a job.
Linta recently caught himself taking up for Flacco who has caught some flak since signing his six-year contract worth $120.6 million, with a staggering $52 million was fully guaranteed.
That signing led to the Ravens being unable to keep Anquan Boldin, and Danell Ellerbe among others. Linta wants to hear none of that talk about Flacco being the reason the Ravens had so much player turnover.
Linta says blame the Ravens, because as he told USA Today, Flacco walked away from a five-year extension that would have averaged $16 million a year last summer, because the Ravens were unwilling to add $1 million more to the final year of that deal.
“One million dollars six years from now, in the base salary non-guaranteed money, and they walked away,” Linta recently told USA Today’s Jim Corbett. “It cost them $35 million. So I have no sympathy. None.
“I’ve never in my life seen a dumber move. I guess people can say, ‘Well, Joe was dumb, too.’ It could have been (dumb), God forbid, if he got hurt. But $1 million to (owner) Steve Bisciotti six years from now? That’s like 100 bucks for you or me today.”
Linta again has made his point, now he needs to shut up before he brings undo pressure and attention to his client.
Linta’s point is simply pointing out that the Ravens’ lack of foresight put them in that position, Not Flacco, but now he needs to leave it alone.
