Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne gave himself a C-minus grade for his rookie season after huge expectations were placed on him when Jerry Jones traded up to the 6th pick to select him.

Claiborne expects a much better sophomore campaign, and told ESPN Dallas that he expects a “big jump” in play during his second season.

“I expect a big jump for myself, and play way different than last year,” Claiborne said when asked if he’ll improve in 2013.

Claiborne used this off-season to bulk up and get stronger in the Cowboys strength and conditioning program.  Claiborne says that strength should help him in press coverage, to take control of routes.

“I can tell a big difference just being stronger at the top of the break.”

“I felt that I needed to do it to help my game, as well. I felt a little bit last year like I was losing receivers at the top of the break and not being in front of them enough at the line of scrimmage. That was a big emphasis that I wanted to do in the offseason.”
