Nationals Relief Pitcher Ryan Mattheus Punches Locker In Frustration, Breaks Hand
This seriously isn’t funny…but it kinda is.
Unfortunately for the Washington Nationals they’ll be without relief pitcher Ryan Mattheus for sometime. Mattheus broke his hand after punching a locker in frustration following a rough game where they were beat up by the Padres in a 13-4 loss Sunday.
Nats manager Davey Johnson made the announcement Monday night following their 8-0 loss to the Giants. According to Johnson Mattheus did not inform the team of his injury until right before Monday’s game.
No timetable has been given for how long he’ll be out but Johnson has said it will be “a while”.
