A team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Hayden’s injury was related to a previous heart surgery. Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie said Hayden, who is still hospitalized, underwent the procedure late last week.
Coach Dennis Allen also said the team couldn’t rule out whether this injury is related to the one that nearly killed Hayden last year. Hayden tore a blood vessel off his heart after an on-field collision with a college teammate at practice at Houston last November.
Doctors had cleared him to play before the draft, but there is still has to be a little be of concern.
