For weeks we’ve waited for Titus Young’s father Richard to speak on his sons behavior, and for weeks all we got was silence. Titus Young has been arrested three times in the past week, and each incident displays more strange behavior than the next.
Richard Young told the Detroit News that Titus is suffering from a brain disorder caused by his brain being compressed into the front of his skull, but he couldn’t remember the disorder’s name Monday.
Young’s father said his son’s disposition changed after he suffered a concussion during his rookie season, although the Lions never listed that as an injury.
Richard Young went on to tell the Detroit Free Press that the Titus Young you see acting out and getting arrested, is not the son he raised.
“I hope they just forgive Titus because this ain’t none of Titus, it wasn’t none of his fault,” Richard Young said. “I look at my son right now, I don’t see my son. That’s not my son. I know my son. Titus is not the boy I really raised, I’m saying the way he act, the way he intermix in society right now. He shut down, he look through you, it’s like he’s depressed.”
Titus Young was supposed to re-enter a program Monday, Richard Young said, when instead he was in the medical ward of the Central Men’s Jail in Santa Ana, Calif.
I’m not an expert, but you can expect Titus Young and his father Richard at some point to try to sue the Detroit Lions, and blame whatever mental health issues that Titus is dealing with on the franchise.
Richard Young has already indicated that he felt like the Lions tried to hide his sons concussion, suffered as a rookie.
