The Manny Pacquiao era in the United States may officially be over. According to L.A. Times, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum announced that his prized Filipino boxer may never fight in the United States again because of taxes.
“By fighting outside the country, as he’s doing in this Rios fight, Manny doesn’t have to pay U.S. taxes anymore – at a rate of 40% for a foreign athlete.
“If this pay-per-view and other things take off like we think they may, I can’t imagine Pacquiao will ever again fight in the U.S.”
Arum stated that in addition to holding his fight Brandon Rios on the morning of Nov. 24 gambling resort, the pay-per-view will be shown live on a Saturday night in the U.S.
