According to a story via Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Patrick Ewing has been hired by his buddy Michael Jordan as an assistant coach.

Ewing sat out last season after serving eight years as an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets. He’s said to be in wanting of a head coaching position, but has been passed over a few times in recent years.

Hall of Fame center Patrick Ewing has reached agreement to become the associate head coach for the Charlotte Bobcats, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Ewing will join the coaching staff of new Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford. Ewing and Clifford have a strong professional and personal history together.

Never hurts to have friends in high places.
