According to a report via Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K Subban is set to be awarded the NHL Norris Trophy, which is given to the league’s top “defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.”

Subban would be the first black player to win the prestigious award which NHL greats like Bobby Orr and Nicklas Lidstrom have won. Subban, scored 11 goals and contributed 27 assists in 42 games, and beat out finalists Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Ryan Suter of the Minnesota Wild.
