Report: Knicks to Acquire Raptors Andrea Bargnani
According to a report via Howard Beck of the New York Times, the New York Knicks are said to be close to acquiring Toronto Raptors forward Andrea Bargnani.
With little flexibility to upgrade their roster in free agency, the Knicks are closing in on a deal to acquire Andrea Bargnani, the Toronto Raptors’ jump-shooting 7-footer, according to a person involved in the talks.
The Knicks are offering a package built around Marcus Camby, Steve Novak and two future draft picks, one in the first round and one in the second. Several teams have pursued Bargnani, but the Knicks have emerged as the “strong favorites” to land him, and a handshake deal could come soon, the person said.
Seems like the Knicks are trying to counter the deal the Brooklyn nets made earlier in the week with this potential trade. Bargnani has two years and $22.25 million left on his contract, so it seems the Knicks will venture further into luxury tax territory.
The former No.1 overall pick seems to have worn out his welcome in Toronto, after years of inconsistent play.
