Chandler Parsons

One of the huge prizes in this year’s NBA free agency is Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard. While many assume that Clippers point guard Chris Paul is likely to return to LA, Dwight is the big name that it seems could have on another uniform by the start of the next NBA season.

While there are numerous options for Dwight (Dallas, Atlanta) it seems that the Lakers’ biggest competitor for the center will be the Houston Rockets. And according to  Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Rockets players are doing everything in their power to make sure Dwight knows that he’s wanted in H-town. Specifically, one Chandler Parsons.

“After watching that last night,” Parsons said, “I hit him with, ‘Come to Houston. That could be us.’ ”

That wasn’t anything new for Howard. He has heard plenty from Parsons this offseason.

“I talk to Dwight every day,” Parsons said. “I’ve created a relationship with him, where I feel like we’re very close. He hits me up about everything. I’ve covered pretty much every question he’s had. I basically tell him, ‘We have a chance to be really good without you next year. We’re going to have a good season. Why not come and join us, join our core guys who are for sure to be here and make us great, make us contend for a championship?’

My gut feeling is ultimately telling me that Dwight will end up in Houston. We all know by now that Dwight changes his mind daily about things of this serious nature so obviously the situation is still extremely fluid.

But if you check your calendars, July 1st is right around the corner. Let the games begin.
