Roy Williams has finally commented on Tar Heel junior P.J. Hairston after the guard was arrested during a traffic stop where the cops found a handgun and marijuana.

We are doing one thing: We are waiting until all the information comes out. The good thing is, I don’t have to make a decision right now because we’re in summer school, fall semester has not started, basketball has not started. We’re going to wait and see what happens. I’ve got some ideas, but right now those ideas are staying in my mind.
I am waiting until all the facts come in and then I will take care of everything that needs to be taken care of.
Hairston greatly improved from his freshman year averaging 14.3 points for the Tar Heels last season, second most on the team. The major cause for concern would be the gun possession charge, but I gather Hairston and his comrades will decide who (other than PJ of course) will take the fall for that one. As long as Hairston stays out of trouble and with what I assume will only be a minor weed charge I don’t expect Roy Williams to hand out any major penalties. Roy’s “ideas” are probably let this die down and give Hairston a slap on the wrist with no missed games.
