I have said this before and I’ll say it again.
I never had a problem with Derrick Rose not playing, my issue was him stringing people along. Just say you not coming back until next year and everyone leaves you alone, then if you do come back early you are a hero.
Don’t say you are waiting for God or today might be the day, when in reality you know that isn’t the case. This is partly Rose’s fault, but the Bulls have a lot of culpability in this as well. They could have nipped this in the bud, but instead they were leaking he was medically cleared to play.
Scottie Pippen ignores all that and says that people should sympathize with Rose.
“I was kind of surprised people turned on him knowing the difficulty of Derrick’s injury,” Pippen said at Nike’s basketball pro-am at Whitney Young High School on Saturday. “No one can justify what he’s going through. No one can make his decision as to when to get back on the basketball court. I thought he took a little bit of a hit for it.
The doctor can tell you the headache is gone, but he don’t totally know that it is gone unless he can get in your head.”
The last part is exactly right. Rose just wasn’t mentally ready to go back on the court and that is fine, just say that and keep it moving.
FYI, according to the Bulls Rose is ready to play now, but there aren’t any games scheduled.
