Chicago Bears LB DJ Williams was carted off the field early Wednesday morning with an apparent calf injury. The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears have listed him as week to week, but this has to be a blow to the defense, as Williams was signed through free agency to replace the future hall-of-famer Brian Urlacher. The Bears other option for middle LB was rookie Jon Bostic, who is a second-round draft pick from Florida.
It’s been a rough year for Williams, since he missed almost half of the 2012 with suspensions from the NFL for a DUI and violating the league’s banned substances policy. 2013 should have been a good year for Williams to bounce back from the negativity from the previous year. He has declined to give any comment on his injury thus far.
