There must be something in the Denver drinking water, no pun intended, because Broncos executives are blowing money fast messing around with alcohol.
For the second time in as many days, a Denver Broncos front office official has been busted drinking and driving.
The Denver Post is reporting that Tom Heckert, the Broncos’ director of pro personnel, is facing DUI charges from a June 11 arrest.
Heckert joins Matt Russell, the Broncos directory of player personnel, in facing DUI charges.
Heckert was able to keep his arrest out of the media for four weeks, but now he’s apart of an extremely embarrassing beginning of the week for the Broncos organization.
Russell and Heckert could both be fined and suspended by the NFL.
The Broncos released a statement on Heckert, and were fully aware before the media and public.
“We were made aware of the matter involving Tom Heckert immediately after it occurred and promptly notified the league office. His arrest is extremely upsetting, and this situation is being handled internally as well as in coordination with NFL policies.
“Tom’s actions are obviously part of a disturbing pattern of irresponsible behavior that we are aggressively addressing within our organization. One member of the Broncos arrested for driving under the influence is one too many. This type of behavior puts innocent people at risk and cannot be tolerated.”
