Floyd Mayweather Says He May Fight Beyond Showtime Deal

Floyd Mayweather Jr. v Robert Guerrero

Floyd Mayweather is a gambler and the biggest bet he is currently making is on himself.

The reason Mayweather is making $30-40-50 million a fight is because he has created this world where people want to see who is the first person to hand him a loss.

That is the entire hook, the minute he takes a loss, will be the same minute his earning power takes a dramatic hit. So, each time Mayweather steps into the ring, he has millions of future dollars at stake. Any time he wins, he guarantees himself one more major payday, so I am not surprised he will keep tempting fate until he has cashed all the way out.

“After my five more fights, guess what? I think after (getting to) 49-0 we may stay in this sport a little longer. This Sept. 14, it’s just another walk in the park,” Mayweather said to a crowd of about 5,000 on Monday night at the Alamo in San Antonio during the ninth stop of the nine-day, two-country, 10-city media tour that he is on with fellow junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs), the 22-year-old Mexican sensation.

In boxing, it is more about when the “Tarver Punch” is coming, not if. Mayweather has done a brilliant job avoiding it so far, we will see how long he can keep with that winning hand.
