Reports from the New York Jets aren’t offering any comfort for the already hopeless Jets fans. After reporting to camp last Thursday, July 25th, it was noted that 2nd round draft pick, QB Geno Smith’s performance did not impress anyone.
According to CBS Sports, NFL Network Analyst, Brian Baldinger, had a very harsh assessment of Smith’s conditioning saying:
“He looked good to me yesterday until he ran gassers at the end of practice. And Geno Smith looked like he had done no conditioning. It was actually embarrassing to see how far (he was) behind (Mark) Sanchez and (Matt) Simms and everybody else that’s there.”
Smith should be able to fix this now that he’s at training camp with proper diet and everyday conditioning, but this lack of regard for the responsibility given to him should be taken as a slap in the face to Jets fans. As of now, the Jets haven’t announced their starter at the QB position, but I’m sure Smith’s initial performance will be duly noted by the powers that be.
