Lost somewhere in the midst of the whole Aaron Hernandez murder case, is the fact that the New England Patriots lost and were forced to release one of the top tight ends in the game.
Hernandez was versatile, and a valuable tool for Tom Brady when healthy. To help replace part of Hernandez’s playmaking abilities, the Pats will utilize running back Shane Vereen at times this coming season.
Around The League is reporting that Patriots plan to utilize Vereen’s playmaking ability on the outside, and hopefully come up with results similar to Vereen’s performance against the Texans in last seasons playoffs.
Vereen scored three touchdowns, all on the outside lined up as a receiver. Vereen averaged 6.4 yards per reception, and would be able to have and advantage over safeties, linebackers and some corners.
