According to mmajunkie.com, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who now fights for Bellator MMA, has been in negotiations for the past few months to face former boxing champ, Roy Jones Jr., in a boxing match at a PPV toward the end of the year. With parent company Viacom’s backing, Bellator is looking to compete with UFC 168.
Jackson, who lost his last three fights in UFC, signed a multi-year deal to fight in Bellator and also wrestle for TNA. Jones has won his last two bouts, last fighting in June of 2012, while also providing commentary for HBO.
This seems like a desperate ploy, using two fighters whose glory days have passed them by, but people will surely watch. At least the press conferences should be fun.
