The Dallas Mavericks have quickly moved on after being eliminated from the Dwight Howard sweepstakes, and now are carefully and seriously setting their sights on Andrew Bynum according to an ESPN.com report.
The Mavs will proceed with caution due to the knee condition that caused the 7-foot, 285-pound Bynum to miss all of his lone season with the Philadelphia 76ers, the sources said.
The evaluation process of the 25-year-old Bynum’s problematic knees will be “exhaustive,” according to the sources.
The Mavericks consider their medical staff to be the best in the league according to sources. That same medical staff was lauded for getting Tyson Chandler’s career back on track after a couple of years of battling injuries.
The 25-year-old Bynum cold receiver a four-year $45 million offer from Dallas. Any deal Bynum receives will probably have language in it that protects a franchise from his knees.
