The Brooklyn Nets are going to pay a price for chasing and trying to buy a championship. ESPN New York is reporting that the Nets and owner Mikhail Prokhorov will pay $80 million in luxury taxes next season.
The Nets payroll will be around $100 million next season, with the majority of their payroll coming from their new starting five.
Deron Williams will make ($18.5 million), Joe Johnson, $21.5 million), Paul Pierce ($15.3 million), Kevin Garnett ($12.4 million) and Brook Lopez ($14.7 million).
the projected salary cap for 2013 is $58.5 million with a luxury-tax threshold at $71.6 million.
