I think the fact the Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly hasn’t named a starter for the upcoming season yet isn’t a good sign for Michael Vick.
When the Eagles surprised a lot of people be re-signing the embattled quarterback to a 1-year deal, many assumed he would be the quarterback for at least the foreseeable future as the Chip Kelly era was ushered in. Factor in Vick’s play-making ability with his legs and Kelly’s infatuation with mobile quarterbacks it seemed a match made in heaven.
Surprisingly though, we find out from Jimmy Kempski of The Morning Call via Profootballzone that Vick has been outplayed throughout the offseason. By none other than Nick Foles.
Foles got the ball out quicker than Vick, was generally more accurate, and is putting receivers in a better position to get yards after the catch.
Nick Foles circa July 2013 looks far better than Nick Foles circa 2012. In fact, I was so thoroughly unimpressed with Foles at the 2012 Senior Bowl.
