The Houston Texans went after Ed Reed in free agency with the hopes that he could be that missing piece of leadership and playmaking ability in a suspect defense.
The Texans landed Reed, but now reportedly feel they may have been duped by Reed in regards to the seriousness of his hip condition.
The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Texans brass “have no clue when Reed will be healthy or ready to play.”
Reed told USA Today that he would have a better idea of his status when training camp begins.
“I’ll have a better bead on it, as far as my progress.”
Reed was brought in to get the Texans over that championship hump, and team officials are generally optimistic that Reed can be ready by week 2 at the latest.
