With Landry Jones off to the NFL, there were questions as to who would replace him as the starting QB for the Oklahoma Sooners. Those questions have finally been put to rest as CBS Sports reports that Bob Stoops has name Trevor Knight the starter for the season opener. There was a fierce competition between Knight and junior Blake Bell, with many thinking that Bell would be the likely choice because of his tenure and previous game experience for the Sooners.
Stoops told the press about his decision:
“Both Trevor and Blake [Bell] have competed hard and both will be ready to play against Louisiana-Monroe. Like every other position on our team, I expect them both to continue competing for the starting job.”
Clearly nothing has been set in stone. The QB position still seems wide open for the Sooners, depending on Trevor Knight’s performance when it comes game time.
