Ok…just when things couldn’t get any stranger.
Brian Cashman’s mentally disturbed ex-mistress, Louise Meanwell, is alleging that A-rod’s lawyers have a conflict of interest because her lawyer is a partner of Joe Tacopina.
The New York Daily News reported the following:
Louise Meanwell says in court documents filed Monday that lawyer Joe Tacopina should be forbidden from representing the embattled slugger because one of his partners is repping her in a case related to her stalking and extortion charges…Meanwell says she spilled details about her bedroom chatter with Cashman to the partner, Stephen Turano, that she could be called to testify on in Alex Rodriguez’ appeal of a 211-game suspension for use of performance-enhancing drugs.
Court papers filed Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court claim that during Meanwell’s 10-month affair with Cashman, he told her he “knew of Yankee clubhouse steroid use by various Yankee players by name.” Cashman also allegedly shared he “was ambivalent to the use of performance enhancement drugs so long as nothing came back to the Yankee organization.”
She also claims that Cashman shared that he “intentionally misled federal investigators.” who were looking into the Roger Clemens alleged steroid use.
Meanwell has a tarnished reputation, after she has been accused of trying to extort money from Cashman and others and is facing charges. And given her relationship with Cashman it’s hard to fully believe her story in the first place.
Tacopina has insisted that there is no conflict of interest and that Turano represented Meanwell not through their Manhattan firm, but through one in New Jersey.
In the mean time, she is due in New York Supreme Court on Tuesday for a pre-trial appearance for trying to extort Cashman.
Yeah, her credibility is totally shot.
