Celtics never seriously considered trading Rondo.

The Celtics are clearly in rebuild mode after trading Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn. Many thought Rajon Rondo would be the next one to be dealt, but apparently Boston has no interest in trading the star guard, despite rumors about a possible Detroit deal.

The wave of phone calls the Celtics received in early July about Rondo has passed, and according to league sources, Boston never seriously entertained dealing their flighty point guard. Rumored talks with Detroit were “overblown,” a source said, and Rondo does not want out of Boston. Rondo is coming off ACL surgery, which bumps down his value, and the Celtics were not planning on selling low regardless.

It’ll be interesting to see if Boston fields offers for Rondo before the trade deadline in February.
