After back to back NBA titles and three straight NBA Finals appearances, the good times in South Beach have been going strong for awhile now. With the likes of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade in tow, there would be no reason for them to stop… right?
Unfortunately all good things must eventually come to an end. With opt-out clauses in all of their contracts, the Big 3 could potentially be no more after this upcoming season. With the landscape of the NBA changing and teams learning the Heat’s weaknesses, it might make basketball sense to break the group up too.
But if you ask one member of the trio, there will be no changes after this upcoming season. Talking with Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, D-Wade let it be known that he sees no reason for the group to end.
“I have no reason to believe anything else. We all love it here. We’re all committed to compete for many, many years to come. Obviously, the business side will take over at one point.”
With Wade set to earn $20.1 million after next season and $21.6 the season after, I think Wade is assuredly going to be in a Heat uniform for the long haul. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not LeBron and Bosh feel the same as well.
One thing we do know, is the Heat’s quest for a 3-peat starts with Derrick Rose and the Bulls opening night.
