Swing away, Evan. While the Tampa Bay Rays were in Boston to take on the Boston Red Sox, Rays 3B Evan Longoria was angling for a different type of hit. It’s being reported in the Boston Herald that Longoria was working his text game magic on a couple of ladies in town. The only problem: the women are spoken for. Here’s what the Herald had to say:
“So this guy won’t stop texting my girl,” said our annoyed dime-dropper. “We are at a concert at the House Of Blues and he messages her: ‘I’m in town what are you up to?’ She replies, ‘With my man at a concert,’ and he says, ‘That’s unfortunate, etc. etc.”
“He continued texting her all night and the next day. ‘Let’s go shopping, it’s harmless,’ ” said our spy. “And the next day, ‘Let’s go to a movie today.’ ”
Where’s your plate discipline, man? You’re a marquee guy in the MLB, and you can’t stop texting a bartender you met on one of your many trips to Boston? Not only that, but you struck out texting another bartender in the same time frame? That’s not the double-up you’re aiming for.
So is the professional athlete’s life, accustomed to having their pick of the finer things. But now not only is Longoria a threat to take your pitcher deep, but your girl, too. There’s a reason he holds that hot corner down so well.
