Florida State was among the final four teams in the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes, but Wiggins decided to attend Kansas University. From that point on, the attention in Tallahassee immediately shifted to Wiggins’ high school teammate Xavier Rathan-Mayes.
Rathan-Mayes committed to Florida State last October. According to Rivals, he’s the number 30 ranked prospect of the 2013 class. Unfortunately for Seminole fans, the highly touted freshmen won’t be able to play this upcoming season.
FSU coach Leonard Hamilton announced that Xavier Rathan-Mayes is not going to be eligible this season.

The Seminoles lost Michael Snaer to graduation, missed out on Andrew Wiggins and now this Rathan-Mayes news. It’s going to be a long season in Tallahassee.
