Adam Jones

Yesterday we reported that Baltimore Orioles All-Star outfielder Adam Jones, claimed that a fan threw a banana at him during a game against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park on Sunday.

The Giants organization, have yet to identify the culprit, but they did issue an apology to Jones for the incident according to Sports Illustrated.

“We were extremely disappointed to learn about the incident involving Adam Jones at AT&T Park yesterday. The Giants have a zero tolerance policy against this type of behavior, which results in immediate ejection from the ballpark. While we have been investigating the matter since we learned of the situation, unfortunately we have been unable to identify the person responsible. We would like to extend our sincerest apologies to Adam and the entire Orioles organization for this unfortunate incident. The inappropriate actions of this individual in no way reflect the values of our organization and our fans.”

Jones was also disappointed with the fact that some of his followers were defending the actions of the banana thrower, even going as far as to say that he may be done with social media.

Anyone defending the actions of the fan throwing the banana is a moron, there is no place for such wreckless, ignorant and bigoted acts in our society.

I hope Jones won’t allow the misguided opinions of the loud minority to chase him off Twitter, it would be a shame.
