16 year old Simone Biles, from Spring, TX, won the biggest prize at US Nationals, the All-Around competition and overall national title. Biles joins Dominique Dawes as the only Black women to win the All-Around crown. Dawes won her title back in 1994.
Biles defeated 2012 Olympian and Fierce Five member, Kyla Ross, by two tenths of a point 120.45 t0 120.25. Biles won silver in all four individual events giving her the edge over Ross.
Biles is a lock for the national team that will compete at the World Championships in Belgium on Sept. 30th – Oct 10th. The other three spots appear to belong to Ross, McKayla Maroney, and a person to be named at the selection camp next month.
