In what could just be a smokescreen to make some people uncomfortable, we have some injury news coming out of Columbia, South Carolina.
According to The State Newspaper, South Carolina all world defensive end Jadeveon Clowney could miss the season opener against North Carolina with a shoulder injury.
Spurrier: Clowney could miss first game if shoulder doesn't improve soon. Seems to sending message: "Get on practice field"

The initial report on Clowney was a sore shoulder, so we can assume Steve Spurrier is sending his star a message about practice.
Spurrier went on a rant about Clowney and Bruce Ellington, and made it clear, the Gamecocks will play without their stars.
Re: Clowney, Byrd, Ellington, Spurrier says "I’ll handle those guys. We’re not depending on them. We can still field a team."

“If (Clowney’s shoulder) doesn’t come around real soon, we may play without him the first game… (2/3)

We’ve got a bunch of hurt guys who act like they are really hurt so right now they may not play.” (3/3)

Spurrier is in mid-season form already, and I’ll win the lottery if Clowney doesn’t line up at end for that first snap.
