Just showing his best friend some love or what he truly feels?
Opinions could vary about these comments from Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant about James Harden. The two were sitting down with ESPN Grantland’s Bill Simmons and Durant was not shy when talking about his former teammate.
“Like he [Rose] said, I think he’s the best guard in the league right now,” Durant told Simmons.
The best guard in the entire league? Not just shooting guard, but best guard period? Slow down there Kevin.
When it comes to the shooting guard position specifically I’m willing to hear out an argument for why Harden is the best. Kobe Bryant is returning from a ruptured Achilles and Dwyane Wade has seen a steady decline in production since LeBron James joined him in South Beach so I could understand an argument for Harden at his position.
But Harden better than Chris Paul? Derrick Rose? Durant’s own superstar teammate Russell Westbrook? I’m not willing to go there just after one season of having his own team. Harden is on the way to being considered among the elite, but he has to consistently prove it year in and year out before I’m willing to give him that kind of status.
