Back in the late 80s and early 90s Hip-Hop was different, you could crossover into the mainstream, but there still an aura of competition on who was the best rapper alive.

That was back then, but now hip-hop is a little softer, emotional and lovey dovey. Which is fine, I don’t have anything against the Draking of Hip-Hop music, most of it is quality and lighthearted. You even take someone like Jay Z, who you can make a case for being the greatest hip-hop artist of all time and one of the reasons is because he has changed with the times.

Rappers don’t like to step on each other toes anymore, maybe because there is so much money to be made, why should you change up the formula? That is why people were so shocked at Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control”.

The beginning of the verse started like a regular verse, but the second half of the verse was right out of the Canibus playbook.

Top 5 verse of All-Time?

No, but it did get people talking about lyrics and that is a good thing. We will see if it forces other rappers to take time out from dancing in skinny jeans with Robin Thicke or making meme raps, to step up their game.
