Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams has heard coach Ron Rivera talk about making a commitment to the running game, and he’s not buying it.
Williams, Carolina’s all-time leading rusher, told the News-Record, “he’s skeptical of the teams commitment to running the ball, and says the team always starts out emphasizing it.”
“The last two years I saw it in camp,” Williams said. “I saw it in practice. I saw it all the way up until game time … and then we threw it more than we ran it.”
“After the first two or three games we’ll definitely know our identity as a team,” Williams said.
I agree with Williams, and understand that if the Panthers don’t get a rushing attack from someone besides Cam Newton, they’ll never be successful.
