Report: NBA Wants Knicks And Nets Owners To Stop Insulting Each Other
The Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are both vying to own New York, and the NBA supports such competition.
The league would just prefer the competition between the two franchises be a bit more friendlier. The New York Post is reporting that the NBA ordered Knicks owner James Dolan and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov to tone down their rivalry, and avoid any tension between the two franchises.
“There was such a meeting and the parties both said it was a very cordial and pleasant one,” said one league official with knowledge of the sit-down, which happened early in the season.
The source confirmed that Prokhorov stokes the fire because the rivalry is good for business, and he really doesn’t have a problem with Dolan or the Knicks.
The source also confirmed that Dolan complained to league offices on morning than one occasion about Prokhorov making fun of him in the media.
