Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Nikola Pekovic knows you can’t teach size, and he’s hoping that fact alone will get him the big money contract he is seeking.
Pekovic is an unrestricted free agent, and even though the Timberwolves have a $6 million qualifying offer on the table, reports suggest Minnesota is ready to give him a four-year $48 million extension.
ESPN 1500 is reporting that Pekovic is looking for a deal in the $15 million per season range, or $60 million over four years.
Pekovic’s only leverage is to sign the $6 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer, but is he willing to leave $48 million on the table.
The rugged power forward averaged 16.3 points per game, and 8.8 rebounds last season in 62 games for the T-Wolves.
