NBA teams have been reluctant in the past to let their stars play for their country during the offseason and this is why. Dan McCarney of the San Antonio News is reporting that Parker injured his knee during an exhibition game for France:
Details were extremely limited, but French sports daily L’Equipe reported that Spurs point guard Tony Parker is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday after injuring his right knee for the second time in exhibition play leading up to next month’s EuroBasket tournament.
The injury does not appear to be serious. … The injury was not referenced in a wire story about the game, nor did Parker address it in comments published by L’Equipe.
The Spurs open camp Oct 1st so their PG has time to heal if the injury turns out to be minor. However, they can’t be happy that he is playing for the team just 2 months after not being 100% in the NBA Finals.
