Former University of Texas, and NFL running back Ricky Williams knows a thing or two about intense media scrutiny.
Williams is the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner, led the NFL in rushing yards in 2002, and received his most intense scrutiny over several failed drug test.
Williams now a running backs coach at the University of the Incarnate Word, recently openly criticized 2012 Heisman winner Johnny Manziel for how he’s acted since winning the trophy.
Williams is questioning his character, and during his opening conversation with reporters as the Incarnate Word’s new running backs coach, “Williams said no one should really be surprised by the trouble Manziel has found himself in.”
“You know once you win the Heisman trophy, there’s going to be more attention on you,” said Williams. “You are probably not going to be able to get away with all the stuff you got away with before.”
“To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised.”
Wow, shots fired.
They are weird shots coming from someone with Williams background for getting in trouble, but definitely some shots fired.
