Saints head coach Sean Payton joined Jim Rome on Showtime’s “Rome” Wednesday night to talk about the NFL, how it felt to be back, and everything Saints related.

One of the questions Rome asked Payton was who was the better college quarterback, Payton or his fellow former Eastern Illinois quarterback and current Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo.

“Payton — wasn’t close,” the Saints coach answered. “Just look at the numbers. I don’t know that Tony’s even graduated from Eastern yet.”

Payton reportedly was pretty good, and once passed for 509 yards in a single game.

They referred to Payton’s Eastern Illinois offense as “Eastern Airlines” back in the day.
