I am honestly surprised this didn’t happen sooner. It was just one of those things you could see coming a mile away once T.O. fired Rosenhaus a few years ago.
Yahoo Sports has the story.
Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens is suing agent Drew Rosenhaus and his brother Jason Rosenhaus for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and negligence, seeking to recover up to $6.5 million from the agents, according to legal filings obtained by Yahoo! Sports.
The gist of the lawsuit is that Owens is upset that Rosenhaus advise him to hire a financial adviser that wasn’t very good. Through various bad investments, one which included a bankrupt casino project Owens ended up losing a lot of money.
Owens is going to have to prove that Rosenhaus intentionally did this, which will be very hard to prove. It isn’t in an agent’s best interest to have a client lose money. It seems also that the lawsuit should be against the financial adviser, but the adviser has fallen on hard times himself, so Owens is going after the man with the money Rosenhaus.
Yahoo has a long list of claims from Owens to validate the lawsuit, but it will be an uphill battle though to get back the lost money from the man who coined the phrase “Next Question”.
