Floyd Mayweather Jr. Says Father Would Beat Him With Extension Cord’s (Video)

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has the money, fame, and notoriety of being the boxer on the planet.  The notorious Money Mayweather has accomplished more than many can dream of, but at what cost?

While making a guest appearance on the Howard Stern Show Thursday, Mayweather Jr. delved into his ugly childhood and the treatment he received from his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr.

Mayweather Jr. who revealed more than he normally might, was quite candid when he talked about the beatings he would receive from his precocious father.

“My dad was kind of hard on me,” he said. “As a child I didn’t really have a child life. I was jogging with combat boots on and chopping wood at the age of 10.”

Stern asked the younger Mayweather if he resents his father for the treatment he received.

“I’m thankful now,” Mayweather replied. “I think about it sometimes. I think it helped in a way, because I feel like I have the will to win at whatever I do. I think I was born with it.”

“Yes,” he said. “It was kind of like school. Everything I did when I was younger, I got beaten for. It was bad — belt or extension cord.”

Floyd later explained the correlation between the beatings he received, and the reason why he never touches his own children.

“After I was abused as a child, I don’t abuse my children,” Mayweather said. “No. I truly don’t believe in putting my hands on my children.”
