This Saturday in Nebraska, the #23 Nebraska Cornhuskers take on the 16th ranked UCLA Bruins. Last year the Huskers lost 36-30 in Pasadena while giving up 653 yards on defense. Bo Pelini knows the importance of this game and had some things to say:
“They’re coming into our house, and we owe them,” players said Pelini told them before he walked out of the locker room.
I would hope, and I’m pretty positive, our team is motivated no matter what the situation,” he said. “It just so happens we played this team a year ago, so if that provides our guys with extra motivation, so be it. I would hope it does. Hopefully that motivation will come in the form of great preparation, because that’s how you win a football game.”
After giving up 602 yards in the first game of the season to Wyoming, Husker fans are understandably nervous about the defense going into this showdown this Saturday. It sounds like the Huskers are on the same page heading into UCLA and they will need to be against UCLA QB Brett Hundley who 358 total yards and 4 touchdowns last year.
It’s for the best though that this team play with a chip on the shoulder after some of the defensive performances recently. It certainly couldn’t hurt.
