First, the late hit cost Lavonte David’s Tampa Bay Bucs the game against the Jets. Now it will make his wallet lighter too:
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday the Bucs linebacker has been fined $7,875 for his hit on Smith, according to a source. Rapoport was told David plans to appeal the fine.
Since it cost his team the game, I think he should be fined a stupidity tax. However, why the random number of $7875? Are they just spinning a wheel in the league office for fines now?
Did this hit even deserve a fine though? I wonder what Clay Matthews will get for his clothesline of Colin Kaepernick then.
