Michael Vick owes Andy Reid his life.

I know that may be a bit overboard, but the fact is Vick owes Andy Reid a ton.  Upon being released from prison in 2008, Vick wasn’t sure he’d get another shot in the league.

The first and maybe only phone call Vick got after his release was from Big Red himself.  Vick of course went on to win the Eagles job a year later, signed another $100 million contract, and is now out of debt.

Vick acknowledges what Reid did for him, and told the Newark Star Ledger that “Reid is one of the greatest men he’s ever met.”

“Andy Reid is somebody who will go down in my book as one of the greatest coaches of all time and one of the greatest men I’ve ever met,” Vick said.

Vick and Reid reportedly have an amazing relationship, and one that goes well beyond the game of football.  Reid gave Vick some tips on the game of life.

“It’s different. It’s definitely different knowing Coach Reid is on the other side,” Vick said. “But that is just where our lives took us to the situation that we’re in right now. I will never forget the opportunities that were given to me by this organization, by Andy Reid. That will never change.

“But I think at some point, once the game starts, we’ll find some gratitude from the competition standpoint having the chance to go up against one another. But it’s not me against Andy Reid. It’s not us against Andy Reid. It’s the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs.”
