It may be time to consider resting Cabrera.
Cabrera left Saturday night’s game against the White Sox in the 10th inning due to soreness in his groin area. Cabrera visibly didn’t look 100% despite the fact he went 3-for- 4 on the night with a walk.
Manager Jim Leyland expressed his concerns following the game:
“I’m not exactly sure,” Leyland said when asked exactly when Cabrera irritated the injury, “but I don’t think it’s too good.”
Cabrera later shrugged off any talks of serious injury, and has since been listed as day to day.
With a win on Sunday the Tigers will clinch the AL Central, which will most likely allow Cabrera to rest up.
