Well the most talked about transfer saga has finally (and mercifully) come to a conclusion.
Spanish soccer club Real Madrid have announced on their official website, that they have signed superstar Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspurs, for a world record transfer fee of $132 million (US figures), making him the most expensive player ever.
Gareth Bale (Cardiff, Wales, 1989) and is a new player of Real Madrid. The white club features one of the best players in the world. It comes from Tottenham Hotspur, where he signed last season 26 goals in 44 matches. He was named best player of the Premier League, where he has impressed with his unstoppable evolution and its immense qualities. Power, speed and technique equally define this total player capable of breaking through the two bands and to score from almost any position, thanks to an excellent left leg and a powerful shot. At age 24, joined the project Carlo Ancelotti to complete an attack of legend.
According to 101 Great Goals, Bale released this statement thanking the Spurs and their fans (who will hate his guts), for their support during his six years there.
“I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it’s the right time to say goodbye. We’ve had some special times together over the years and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
“I would like to thank everyone at the Club, the Chairman, Board, staff, coaches and players – and most of all the fantastic fans who I hope will understand this amazing career opportunity.”
“I am not sure there is ever a good time to leave a club where I felt settled and was playing the best football of my career to date. I know many players talk of their desire to join the club of their boyhood dreams, but I can honestly say, this is my dream come true.”
“I am well aware that I would not be at the level I am today were it not for firstly Southampton and then Spurs standing by me during some of the tougher times and affording me the environment and support they have.”
“Tottenham will always be in my heart and I’m sure that this season will be a successful one for them. I am now looking forward to the next exciting chapter in my life, playing football for Real Madrid.”
Bale, who many consider to be one of the top three players in the world, will now join arguably the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo, at Madrid to form what may possibly be the most devastating duo the world has ever seen.
Earlier in the year, Madrid’s main rivals Barcelona signed another top superstar in Neymar, so this signing is seen as somewhat of rebuttal.
This is going to be fun to watch.
